| New Controller Joins SMMC |
YORK COUNTY, ME – Kathy Constantine recently joined Southern Maine Medical Center (SMMC) as the Controller, bringing with her over thirty years of accounting experience. Constantine holds an undergraduate degree in accounting and Masters Degree in Business Administration from the University of Maine and also attended the Androscoggin Leadership Development Institute. Most recently she worked as Director of Financial Planning at St. Mary’s Health System which includes St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center, St. Marguerite d’Youville Pavilion and Community Clinical Services.
As Controller, Constantine is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the Southern Maine Medical Center system. She directs all activities related to financial reporting, cash management, budgeting, third party reimbursement, cost accounting, accounts payable, and payroll.
"The opportunity to help Southern Maine Medical Center achieve their strategic financial plan is very exciting. These are challenging times for healthcare organizations, but working as a team will allow us to be successful and continue to serve the community," stated Constantine.
Constantine lives in Auburn with her husband and they have two adult daughters. She is the Chair of the Board for the Center for Wisdom’s Women, a small non-profit organization in Lewiston. The Center was previously run by the Daughters of Wisdom who left in 2008. The Board has been creating the structure to take over their work since August 2008. In her spare time she enjoys the outdoors including traveling, camping, skiing, biking, and kayaking.
